Exhaust Bellows and Flex Connectors

GT Exhaust and Silex offer a wide variety of standard and custom exhaust bellows and flex connectors for all engines and applications

What’s the difference between Flex and bellows?

Exhaust Bellows and Flex connectors may look similar but they are very different.  The main difference between flex and bellows is thermal expansion and lateral / axial deflection compensation.

Bellows type connectors are designed to compensate for the thermal expansion and lateral / axial deflection. This is needed in large exhaust systems and systems with long  exhaust piping/tubing runs to compensate for the thermal growth in the system as it warms up. Bellows type connectors are recommended for all exhaust systems with an OD of 10″ and over. All GT-Silex bellows connectors are 2-ply 321 stainless steel with carbon flanges ( S304 and S316 flanges are available )

Flex type connectors are much more cost effective on smaller systems when thermal expansion is not an issue.  The primary purpose of a flex connector is to isolate vibration from the rest of the exhaust system, they do not compensate for thermal or axial expansion.  All GT-Silex flex connectors are 321 stainless steel with carbon flanges ( S304 and S316 flanges are available )
